Singing since childhood and teaching since 2004 Roamy is trained in all styles of Modern Music as well as Musical Theatre, Jazz and Classical

I teach all private singing lessons from my home in Petersfield, on the Hampshire/West Sussex border.  Here I have all the relevant teaching materials and equipment, combined with a quiet, disruption-free environment.

I cover all styles of modern music – specialising in Pop, Rock, Punk, Metal, Soul, RnB and Musical Theatre.

I offer individual, private tuition in all aspects of singing, with lessons tailored to each individual’s personal requirements and areas for development.

I firmly believe that a huge part of singing is about confidence.  I concentrate on teaching singers the correct breathing and vocal techniques to maximise their potential in their chosen field of singing – whether that be singing backing vocals for a rock band, performing in a Musical, working towards a professional career as a performing artist, working through exams, fronting an acoustic act, singing in a choir or just simply for fun and to build confidence.

I am DBS checked and work with children from 8 years.  I’m happy to put the children through grades (Musical Theatre or Rock School) or to teach without doing exams; everyone is different and has different requirements from their lessons.

It’s never too late to start singing lessons – I have people contacting me who are in their 60’s and 70’s, wanting to help improve their confidence when singing for pleasure, or because they’d like to surprise a loved one with a song.

I’ve recently attended a 3-day Vocal Coaching Mentorship course with The Vocal Institute in Brighton, to further extend my knowledge and give me new ideas for making my teaching even more tailored to each individual student.  It’s been fantastic getting to work with other singing teachers and bounce ideas off each other and I’ve learnt a huge amount.

Whatever the reason you’d like to have lessons, if you’d like to book a lesson to see how you get on and if you like my teaching, please get in touch.  I don’t book courses of lessons or require a commitment to come every week/every fortnight.  The lessons are designed to fit around what works best for you.

As each lesson is different, please feel free to contact me to discuss your individual requirements and how I can help.

I had been having singing lessons for several years. Having moved and joined a new choir I had a sudden loss of confidence that I was singing out of tune. I was lucky to find Roamy who gave me structured lessons that helped me realise that I could still sing. She also helped to expand my range of voice.

Valerie Wall, Taught Jan 16 – May 16

As a professional musician (over ten years worth of live and recording experience on bass) and a beginner vocalist, Roamy’s ability to tailor her lessons and teaching techniques to my individual needs and background were impeccable. They were a crucial element to not only the great results I received from my lessons but also a large contributor to the tremendous fun I had as well. Roamy’s professional and highly personable manner creates a relaxed and focussed atmosphere in each lesson, and therefore I would happily recommend her lessons to anyone interested in vocal training, whatever their musical level or background!

Julia Ruzicka, Professional Musician, Taught Mar 07 – Sep 10

I always thought I could sing and after the 3rd or 4th lesson Roamy gave me the confidence to sing live. Lessons were comfortable and I was working on things I wanted to learn and perfect, harmonies, pitching, etc. Roamy also helped with songs I had written and gave advice over emails outside of lessons. I’ve never regretted the 50 mile or so drive I was taking to have the lessons, it was worth every penny.

Terry Brown, Bassist and Backing Vocals – Dead by Dawn, Taught Apr – Dec 08

While working as an actor I took several months of one to one lessons with Roamy with the intention of gaining greater control of a nervous singing voice. Roamy not only greatly improved my technical ability, greatly extending my range for example, but also gave me the confidence I needed to approach a wide selection of singing styles with real enjoyment. Her lessons were packed full of exercises and practice that really challenged me but her tuition was always fun and encouraging. I would definitely recommend her as a teacher to anyone, of any ability, who is looking for lessons

Mike Whitcomb, Actor, Taught Aug – Oct 07

I always turn to Roamy for a few lessons prior to my final exams, she gives great constructive criticism, and points out areas of improvement I wouldn’t have noticed had I not gone to her. As a result from her help I achieved distinctions in my singing exams.

Hayley Williams, Student, Taught Dec 06 – Jun 08

Roamy is a dedicated teacher and covers as much as possible in her lessons focusing on areas where there are difficulties. She really has helped me to become more confident and have confidence in my singing.

Josie Blacknell, Drummer, Taught Mar – Jun 07

When I joined a band as lead singer I was lacking confidence, and the ability to consistently hit the right notes. I began having singing lessons with Roamy, and after my first lesson, my band mates noticed a marked improvement in my singing ability, and the confidence this gave me as a front man. Roamy lessons were relaxed and enjoyable, but I always went away from every session feeling as though I had achieved another goal, I would highly recommend her as a sing coach.

Julian Bellew, Lead Singer – Wrecking Season, Taught Mar 05 – Aug 06
